Exterior Lighting - Overview: Headlamps
The headlamp system consists of:
- Headlamp assemblies
- Headlamp switch
- LH multifunction switch
- BCM
- SCCM
- IPMA
- HCM
- LED control module (mounted on headlamp assembly, LED headlamps only)
- Ballast (mounted on headlamp assembly, High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps only)
- Adaptive front lighting module (mounted on headlamp assembly)
For North America low series, the High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamp system consists of a replaceable High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulb in each headlamp assembly and an electronic shutter to change the beam pattern. The High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamp also contains an actuator for adaptive lighting that is not replaceable.
Except North America the low series LED headlamp system consists of 2 main low beam and 1 high beam non-replaceable LED directed through a beam projector lens. Headlamp assembly Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are not replaceable. The LED headlamp also contains an actuator for adaptive lighting and headlamp leveling that is not replaceable.
For the high series, the LED headlamp system consists of 4 main low beam Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), 1 is for adaptive lighting, and 2 high beam non-replaceable Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Headlamp assembly Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) are not replaceable. The LED headlamp also contains an actuator for adaptive lighting that is not replaceable.
The headlamp system is also equipped with automatic high beams.
Except North America, the headlamp system is also equipped with automatic headlamp leveling.
