Brake Vacuum Pump: Installation

NOTE: Make sure the oil tube filter screen is free of contaminants prior to the installation of the pump or damage to components may occur.

If a new vacuum pump is not being installed, inspect the oil tube filter screen and gasket. Install a new gasket or clean the filter screen as necessary.

NOTE: If the brake vacuum pump is not secured within 10 minutes of sealant application, the sealant must be removed and the sealing area cleaned with metal surface prep. Failure to follow this procedure can cause future oil leakage.

Apply an 8 mm (0.314 in) bead of the specified RTV silicone as shown.

NOTE: Manually align the brake vacuum pump drive key with the camshaft slot before installation.

Install the vacuum pump and the 3 bolts.
- Stage 1: Tighten in the sequence shown to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 45 degrees.

4.

Connect the vacuum tube and the wiring harness pin-type retainer.

5.

Install the RH fender splash shield. Refer to Front End Body Panels .

6.

Install the oil fill tube cap and the engine appearance cover.
