Turbocharger RH: Removal
NOTE:
Whenever turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All components should be inspected and cleaned, if necessary, prior to installation or reassembly.
NOTE:
During the removal or installation of components, cap, tape or otherwise appropriately protect all openings and tubes/fittings to prevent the ingress of dirt or other contamination. Remove caps, tape and other protective materials prior to installation.
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to Jacking and Lifting .
- Remove the oil filler cap and then remove the engine appearance cover. Install the oil filler cap.
- Drain the cooling system. Refer to Engine Cooling .
- Remove the RH catalytic converter. Refer to Exhaust System .
- Remove the front subframe. Refer to Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System .
- Remove the turbocharger oil supply tube secondary latch.
- Using a Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool, remove the turbocharger oil supply tube from the quick connect fitting, refer to Fuel System General Information
- Loosen the turbocharger inlet pipe clamp and then position the turbocharger inlet pipe out of the way. Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate control hose.
- Remove the turbocharger oil return tube bolts, then remove the turbocharger oil return tube.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger oil return tube gasket and the turbocharger oil return tube O-ring seals.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger coolant tube bolts, then position the turbocharger coolant tubes out of the way.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger coolant tube linked sealing washers.
- Detach the vacuum hose retainers from the strut tower brace.
- Remove the strut tower brace nuts and then remove the strut tower brace.
- Disconnect the turbocharger bypass valve electrical connector and the turbocharger bypass valve hose. Loosen the clamp and then disconnect the Charge Air Cooler(CAC) tube.
- Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve hose from the CAC tube. Remove the CAC tube nut.
- Disconnect the RH turbocharger bypass valve electrical connector. Disconnect the RH turbocharger bypass valve hose. Loosen the turbocharger outlet pipe clamp, then disconnect the turbocharger outlet pipe from the turbocharger and remove the turbocharger outlet pipe.
- Remove the RH engine lifting eye and the RH engine lifting eye bolts.
- Remove the turbocharger heat shield bolts, then remove the turbocharger heat shield.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger mounting bolts, then remove the turbocharger.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger gasket.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube bolt, then remove the turbocharger oil supply tube.
- Remove and discard the turbocharger oil supply tube linked sealing washer and the turbocharger oil supply tube filter.
