Pinpoint Test AK : The Shift To Park Message Is Never Or Always Displayed (IA Only)

  1. AK1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Disconnect: BJB Fuse 69 (20A).

    • Ignition ON.

    • NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center indicators rotate through each of the warnings. Allow the displays to rotate through each display while determining whether the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and over-temperature message center warning indicator is active

      Observe the message center or integrated display area of the IPC with the PCM fuse connected and disconnected.

    Do the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and low oil pressure message center warning indicators remain off when the PCM fuse is installed and become active with the PCM fuse removed? 

    Yes  GO to  AK2.
    No   
  2. AK2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST

    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    Yes  For DTC U0140:00, GO to Pinpoint Test BA .For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC CHART - IPC .
    No  GO to  AK3.
  3. AK3 CHECK THE PRNDL PARK (P) OPERATION

    • Apply the parking brake.

    • Shift the vehicle in and out of PARK (P) while monitoring the PRNDL P indication.

    Does the PRNDL display P with the shifter in PARK (P) and turn off when the shifter is out of PARK (P)? 

    Yes  Refer to: BCM Hardware Testing .
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test W .
