Turbocharger - RH: Installation

• 1.
  
  Install the new the turbocharger exhaust adapter gasket.

NOTE: Apply high temperature nickel anti-seize lubricant to the turbocharger exhaust adapter studbolt threads prior to the installation of the turbocharger exhaust adapter.
• 2.
  Install the turbocharger exhaust adapter and the new turbocharger exhaust adapter studbolts and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft). Material: Motorcraft® High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant XL-2.

  Install the new turbocharger gasket.

• 4.
  
  Inspect the turbocharger coolant tube-to-turbocharger fittings and replace as needed. Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).

• 5.
  
  Place the turbocharger in the vehicle. Connect the turbocharger coolant tube to the turbocharger fitting.

• 6.
  
  Inspect the turbocharger coolant supply tube-to-engine block fitting and replace as needed. Tighten to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).

NOTE: Align catalytic converter pipe flange to the turbocharger adapter while installing the turbocharger.
• 7.
  Install the new turbocharger mounting bolts, install the turbocharger coolant supply tube to the block fitting while installing the turbocharger. Tighten the new turbocharger mounting bolts to 32 Nm (24 lb-ft).

  Install the new upper turbocharger oil tube assembly gasket.

• 9.
  
  Install the turbocharger oil tube assembly upper bolts finger tight at the turbocharger.

  • 1.
    
    Tighten the outer turbocharger oil tube bolt to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).

  • 2.
    
    Tighten the inner turbocharger oil tube bolt in the following 2 stages.
    • Stage 1: Tighten the inner turbocharger oil tube bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
    • Stage 2: Tighten the inner turbocharger oil tube bolt an additional 30 degrees.

  • 3.
    
    Tighten the outer turbocharger oil tube bolt in the following 2 stages.
    • Stage 1: Tighten the outer turbocharger oil tube bolt to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
    • Stage 2: Tighten the outer turbocharger oil tube bolt an additional 30 degrees.

• 10.
  
  Install the turbocharger coolant supply tube and the turbocharger oil feed tube bolt. Tighten the turbocharger oil feed tube bolt in the following 2 stages.
  • Stage 1: Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  • Stage 2: Tighten an additional 30 degrees.

  Connect the turbocharger wastegate actuator hose.

  Connect the turbocharger coolant return tube at the turbocharger.

NOTE: Install the new catalytic converter adapter nuts finger tight.
• 13.
  Evenly tighten the new catalytic converter adapter nuts to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  Install the Starter Motor, refer to Starting System .

• 15.
  
  Install the A/C compressor and the A/C compressor mounting bolts. Tighten the A/C compressor mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).

  Position back the hose to the valve cover stud. Install the CAC tube bracket and the nuts. Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).

  Install the A/C Compressor Belt, refer to Accessory Drive .

• 18.
  
  Install the Brake Vacuum Pump, refer to Power Brake Actuation .

• 19.
  
  Install the turbocharger outlet pipe and attach the turbocharger outlet pipe to the bracket. Tighten the turbocharger outlet pipe clamps to 5.0 Nm (44 lb-in) and connect the turbocharger outlet pipe hose.

  Install the turbocharger inlet pipe.

  • 1.
    
    Attach the turbocharger inlet pipe to the bracket.

  • 2.
    
    Tighten the turbocharger inlet pipe clamp to 5.0 Nm (44 lb-in).

  Connect the turbocharger inlet pipe hose.

  Install the Air Cleaner Outlet Pipe, refer to Intake Air Distribution and Filtering .

• 23.
  
  Install the RF Fender Splash Shield, refer to Front End Body Panels .

• 24.
  
  Install the RF tire, refer to Wheels and Tires .

• 25.
  
  If equipped, install the skid plate and the skid plate bolts and tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  Install the underbody splash shield and the underbody splash shield retainers.

  Fill and bleed the cooling system, refer to Engine Cooling .
