Pinpoint Test Av: DTC U0100:00

• Ignition ON.
• Connect a scan tool.
• Check that a vehicle session can be established using the scan tool.

Can a vehicle session be established? 

1. Yes  : GO to AV2  .
2. No  : REFER to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK , The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

• Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
• Clear the DTCs.
• Wait 10 seconds.
• Repeat the self-test.

Is DTC U0100:00 retrieved again? 

1. Yes  : GO to AV3  .
2. No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

• Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded? 

1. Yes  : REFER to ELECTRIC ENGINE CONTROLS or ENGINE CONTROLS - SYMPTOM CHARTS (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) (SECTION 3) .
2. No  : GO to AV4  .

• Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

1. Yes  : For DTC U3003:16, GO to PINPOINT TEST BJ .

   For DTC U3003:17, GO to PINPOINT TEST BK .

2. No  : GO to AV5  .

• Using a scan tool, retrieve all continuous memory DTCs.

Is DTC U0100:00 set in the ABS module or in the Restraints Control Module (RCM)? 

1. Yes  : INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRIC ENGINE CONTROLS .
2. No  : INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
