Pinpoint Test V: The Mil Is Never-Always On

V1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes : For DTC U0100:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST AV .
  For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC CHART - IPC .
- No : GO to V2 .
V2 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE PCM KOEO SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the KOEO self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes : DIAGNOSE all PCM DTCs first. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS or ENGINE CONTROLS - SYMPTOM CHARTS (EXCEPT DIESEL & HYBRID) (SECTION 3) .
- No : GO to V3 .
V3 CARRY OUT THE IPC WARNING LAMPS AND CHIME ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
- Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs.
- Select the IPC MIL (MIL_LAMP) PID.
- Command the MIL on and off while observing the MIL.
Does the MIL illuminate when selected on and turn off when selected off?
- Yes : If the MIL is never on, the system is operating correctly.
  If the MIL is always on, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROLS .
- No : INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
