Pinpoint Test Ar: The Parking Brake Warning Chime Is Inoperative

  1. AR1 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.
    • Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 
    1. Yes  : GO to AR2.
    2. No  : INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
  2. AR2 CHECK THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Apply the parking brake.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Observe the brake warning indicator.
    • Does the brake warning indicator illuminate? 
    1. Yes  : GO to AR3.
    2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST L .
  3. AR3 CHECK THE SPEEDOMETER OPERATION 
    • Check the speedometer for correct operation.
    • Does the speedometer operate? 
    1. Yes  : GO to AR4.
    2. No  : GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
  4. AR4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST 
    • Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded? 
    1. Yes  : For DTC U0140:00, GO to PINPOINT TEST BA .

      For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Chart - IPC .

    2. No  : GO to AR5.
  5. AR5 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST 
    • Check for recorded BCM DTCs from the self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded? 
    1. Yes  : REFER to the BCM DTC Chart in BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No  : INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
