Pinpoint Test Al: The Chime Always Sounds

  1. AL1 CHECK THE IPC WARNING INDICATORS AND MESSAGE CENTER 
    • Check the IPC and message center for illuminated warning indicator or message center displays.
    • Does the IPC have any indicators illuminated or message center messages/message center indicators displayed? 
    1. Yes  : GO to Symptom Chart - IPC  or GO to Symptom Chart - Information And Message Center .
    2. No  : GO to AL2.
  2. AL2 CHECK THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION 
    • Close all doors.
    • Wait one minute.
    • Observe the exterior lights.
    • Are the headlamps and parking lamps off? 
    1. Yes  : GO to AL3.
    2. No  : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
  3. AL3 CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION 
    • Close and close the driver door.
    • Observe the interior lights.
    • Do the interior lights operate correctly from the driver door? 
    1. Yes  : GO to AL4.
    2. No  : REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING .
  4. AL4 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
    • Are any DTCs present? 
    1. Yes  : REFER to the BCM DTC Chart in BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No  : INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) .
