Thermostat Housing: Removal

1.

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this service information, refer to Safety Warnings in GENERAL INFORMATION . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Refer to: Engine Cooling System Health and Safety Precautions .

2.

Drain the cooling system. REFER to: Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding .

3.

Disconnect the battery ground cable. REFER to: Battery Disconnect and Connect .

4.

NOTE: If equipped.

Remove the retainers and the underbody shield.

5.

Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the protective cap and the battery cable faster and cable.
Torque

: 150 lb.in (17 Nm)

6.

NOTE: Cover the generator to prevent coolant contamination and possible damage to generator.

Completely cover the generator with waterproof plastic.

7.

Release the clamps and disconnect the coolant hoses from the thermostat housing.
Use the General Equipment: Hose Clamp Remover/Installer

8.

Remove the bolts and the thermostat housing.
Torque

: 89 lb.in (10 Nm)
