Pinpoint Test J: DTC U0155
Parking Aid
Pinpoint Test J: DTC U0155
Normal Operation
The Parking Aid Module (PAM) receives network messages from the Instrument Cluster (IC) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). As more than one module receives each of the IC (Instrument Cluster) messages, all modules receiving that particular message should exhibit a symptom if the message is missing.
- DTC U0155 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (IC) Control Module)- sets in the PAM (Parking Aid Module) if data messages received from the IC (Instrument Cluster) over the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) are missing for greater than 5 seconds with the ignition in RUN.
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Communication network concern
- PAM (Parking Aid Module)
- IC (Instrument Cluster)
PINPOINT TEST J : DTC U0155
J1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
Yes
GO to J2.
No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
J2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
- Carry out the network test.
Does the IC (Instrument Cluster) pass the network test?
Yes
GO to J3.
No
REFER to Information Bus.
J3 CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT-OF-RANGE DTCs
- Carry out the self-test for the IC (Instrument Cluster).
Is DTC B1317 or DTC B1318 recorded in the IC (Instrument Cluster)?
Yes
REPAIR the IC (Instrument Cluster) DTCs. RETEST the parking aid system.
No
GO to J4.
J4 CHECK FOR DTC U0155 OR DTC U0155:00 SET IN MULTIPLE MODULES
- Ignition ON.
- Clear continuous DTCs from all modules.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait at least 10 seconds.
- Retrieve all continuous DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0155 or DTC U0155:00 set in more than one module?
Yes
GO to J5.
No
GO to J6.
J5 CHECK FOR CORRECT IC (Instrument Cluster) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect the IC (Instrument Cluster) connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the IC (Instrument Cluster) connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new IC (Instrument Cluster). CLEAR all continuous DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR all continuous DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
J6 CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (Parking Aid Module) OPERATION
- Connect: All Disconnected Connectors.
- Disconnect the PAM (Parking Aid Module) connector.
- Check for:
- correct connector seating and latching
- corrosion
- damaged pins
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the PAM (Parking Aid Module) connector and make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes
INSTALL a new PAM (Parking Aid Module). REFER to Parking Aid Module (PAM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
