Pinpoint Test F: TSS Sensor
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Ford Fusion. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
Refer to the transaxle connector illustrations and solenoid body leadframe internal wiring diagram in TRANSAXLE CONNECTOR LAYOUTS .
NOTE:
Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor codes may be a result of bad power and ground circuits shared between the Transmission Range (TR) sensor, Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor and TSS sensor.
- F1 ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS
- Check to make sure the transaxle vehicle harness C1520A is fully seated, terminals are engaged in connector and in good condition before proceeding.
- Have the items above been checked?
- Yes: GO to F2.
- No: CARRY OUT the checks. CLEAR the DTCs. RERUN the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) tests.
- F2 ELECTRONIC DIAGNOSTICS
- Connect the scan tool.
- Monitor the TSS sensor PIDs while test driving the vehicle.
- Is the TSS sensor signal present and consistent?
- Yes: The condition that set the DTC is intermittent and is not currently present. CLEAR the DTCs. RERUN the OBD tests.
- No: GO to F3.
- F3 CHECK THE TRANSAXLE VEHICLE HARNESS FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT
- Disconnect: TSS Sensor C1520B.
- Disconnect: PCM Transaxle Harness C175T.
- Use a mirror to inspect both ends of the connectors for damage or pushed-out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Measure the resistance between the TSS C1520B and the PCM transaxle C175T.
