Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub - F-250, F-350: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.
  3. Remove the 2 brake caliper anchor plate bolts and position the caliper assembly aside.
    • Support the caliper assembly using mechanic's wire.
  4. Remove the grease cap from the hub assembly.
  5. Remove the cotter pin, wheel hub nut retainer, nut and flat washer.
    • Discard the wheel hub nut.
  6. NOTE: Inspect the condition of the wheel spindle and threads, clean or replace as necessary.
  7. Remove the outer wheel bearing assembly, then remove the hub and brake disc assembly.
  8. CAUTION: Do not damage the wheel bearing cage while removing.
  9. Using a suitable slide hammer and bearing seal remover, remove the inner wheel bearing seal and bearing.
