Belt-Minder® Deactivating/Activating: Deactivating/Activating

NOTE: The Belt-Minder® cannot be deactivated using a MyKey™ programmed key. The Belt-Minder® can only be deactivated using an administrator key. If the Belt-Minder® is already disabled, driving the vehicle with a MyKey™ programmed key overrides the deactivation, however, when the vehicle is subsequently operated using an administrator key, the Belt-Minder® once again reverts to the disabled state.
  1. Turn the ignition ON (do not start the engine).
  2. Wait until the safety belt warning indicator turns off (approximately 1 minute).
  3. NOTE: Steps 3 and 4 must be completed within 30 seconds or the procedure must be repeated.
  4. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 3 times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. The safety belt warning indicator then illuminates for 3 seconds.
  5. Within 10 seconds of the safety belt warning indicator illuminating, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt. This enables the Belt-Minder® if disabled, or disables the Belt-Minder® if enabled.
  6. The safety belt warning indicator flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds provides confirmation that the Belt-Minder® is disabled.
    • The following sequence of events confirms the Belt-Minder® is enabled:
    • flashing of the safety belt warning indicator 4 times per second for 3 seconds
    • seconds with the safety belt warning indicator off
    • flashing of the safety belt warning indicator 4 times per second for 3 seconds again
  7. After confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.
