Pinpoint Test H: The Roof Opening Panel Does Not Open Or Close - Power Shade
- H1 CHECK THE POWER SHADE MOTOR FOR INITIALIZATION
- Yes
: GO to H2.
- No
: The system is operating normally at this time. The power shade motor was not initialized.
- H2 CHECK THE FRONT SLIDING GLASS PANEL OPERATION
- Attempt to open and close the front sliding glass panel using the roof opening panel slide switch.
- Does the front sliding glass panel open and close using the slide control switch?
- Yes
: GO to H3.
- No
: GO to PINPOINT TEST F to diagnose the inoperative front sliding glass panel.
- H3 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL SWITCH
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Switch C912.
- Carry out the Roof Opening Panel Switch Component Test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING

for component testing.
- Is the roof opening panel switch OK?
- Yes
: GO to H4.
- No
: INSTALL a new roof opening panel switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
- H4 CHECK CIRCUIT CPR86 (GY/BN) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Motor/Module C921.
- Measure the resistance between roof opening panel switch C912-4, circuit CPR86 (GY/BN), harness side and roof opening panel module C921-8, circuit CPR86 (GY/BN), harness side; and between roof opening panel switch C912-4, circuit CPR86 (GY/BN), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the roof opening panel switch and the roof opening panel module; and greater than 10, 000 ohms between the roof opening panel switch and ground?
- Yes
: CHECK the overhead console jumper harness for loose pins, an open or a short in circuit CPR86 (GY/BN) between the roof opening panel switch socket and overhead console C921-8. If the overhead console jumper harness is not OK, INSTALL a new overhead console jumper harness and TEST the system for normal operation. If the overhead console jumper harness is OK, GO to H5.
- No
: REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- H5 CHECK CIRCUIT CPR85 (GN/WH) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between roof opening panel switch C912-9, circuit CPR85 (GN/WH), harness side and roof opening panel module C921-9, circuit CPR85 (GN/WH), harness side; and between roof opening panel switch C912-9, circuit CPR85 (GN/WH), harness side and ground.

- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the roof opening panel switch and the roof opening panel module; and greater than 10, 000 ohms between the roof opening panel switch and ground?
- Yes
: CHECK the overhead console jumper harness for loose pins, an open or a short in circuit CPR85 (GN/WH) between the roof opening panel switch socket and overhead console C921-9. If the overhead console jumper harness is not OK, INSTALL a new overhead console jumper harness and TEST the system for normal operation. If the overhead console jumper harness is OK, GO to H6.
- No
: REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- H6 CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR/MODULE FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Disconnect all roof opening panel motor/module connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- bent pins.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect all roof opening panel motor/module connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- Yes
: INSTALL a new power shade motor. REFER to ROOF OPENING PANEL MOTOR - SHADE in this service information. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No
: The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
