Normal Operation

The Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module uses the backup transceiver to operate the Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) in the event of a failure of any passive start antenna, the battery in the Intelligent Access (IA) key, or the Remote Functions Receiver (RFR) module. It is also used for IA key programming.

The backup transceiver receives voltage and ground directly from the RFA module. The RFA module controls the backup transceiver through the dedicated clock and data circuits.

DTC DESCRIPTION TABLE

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
  • B10D9:11 - PATS Transponder: Circuit Short to Ground
A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the backup transceiver power circuit is shorted to ground and the voltage is drawn below the level of the RFA module logic battery input.
  • B10D9:12 - PATS Transponder: Circuit Short to Battery
A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the backup transceiver power, clock and data circuits are shorted to voltage.
  • B10D9:31 - PATS Transponder: No Signal
An on-demand DTC that sets when the backup transceiver signal is not seen by the RFA module.
  • B10D9:87 - PATS Transponder: Missing Message
A continuous memory and on-demand DTC that sets when the backup transceiver signal cannot be initialized by the RFA module.
