Removal And Installation

    NOTE: Refer to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES article for correct vehicle communication module (VCM) hook-up procedure.
  1. If servicing the powertrain control module (PCM), connect the scan tool to the vehicle. Allow the scan tool to identify the vehicle and obtain configuration data.
    • All programmable module information will automatically be retrieved by the VCM.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES article.
  3. Disconnect the powertrain control module (PCM) electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the 2 bolts and the PCM.
    • To install, tighten to 7 N.m (62 lb-in).
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
