Pinpoint Test C: The Headlamps On Reminder Chime Is Inoperative

- C1 CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMPS
- Open the driver door.
- Do the interior lamps illuminate when the driver door is open?
Yes : GO to C2.
No : REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis of the interior lamps.
- C2 MONITOR THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IGNITION SWITCH PIDS
- Key in ON position.
- Connect the scan tool.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Instrument Cluster PIDs.
- Monitor the instrument cluster ignition switch PIDs while cycling the ignition switch through the OFF, ACC, and RUN positions.
- Do the instrument cluster ignition switch PIDs agree with the ignition switch positions?
Yes : GO to C3.
No : REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES to continue diagnosis of the ignition switch.
- C3 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION
- Disconnect the instrument cluster connector.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect the instrument cluster connector and make sure it seats correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
