Pinpoint Test C: Both High Beams Are Inoperative

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. C1 CHECK THE LOW BEAMS 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • NOTE: Make sure the multifunction switch is in the LOW BEAM position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the HEADLAMPS ON position.
    • Are the low beams illuminated? 
    1. YES  : Go to  C2.
    2. NO  : Go to Pinpoint Test A .
  2. C2 BYPASS THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH 
    • Place the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Multifunction Switch C202b

    • Connect a fused (20A) jumper wire between the multifunction switch C202b-11, circuit 195 (TN/WH), harness side and the multifunction switch C202b-10, circuit 632 (GY/OG), harness side.
    • Do the high beams illuminate? 
    1. YES  : VERIFY the CJB fuse 30 (15A) is OK. If OK, REMOVE the jumper wire. INSTALL a new multifunction switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : LEAVE the jumper wire connected. Go to  C3.
  3. C3 CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE CJB FUSE 30 (15A)

      NOTE: Make sure the CJB fuse 30 (15A) is good before continuing diagnostics.
    • Measure the voltage between the CJB fuse 30 (15A), input side and ground.
    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? 
    1. YES  : REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR circuit 12 (LG/BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REMOVE the jumper wire. REPAIR circuit 632 (GY/OG) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
