  1. A1 CHECK THE SJB DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND THE ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS
    • Use the recorded results from the SJB continuous and on-demand self-test.
    • Are any SJB DTCs recorded?
    1. YES  : For DTC B2A35, go to  A2.

For DTC B2A36, go to  A6.

For all other DTCs, REFER to DTC Charts .

    2. NO  : Go to  A4.
  2. A2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DEMAND LIGHTING
    • Operate the demand lighting function on any courtesy lamp.
    • Does the courtesy lamp illuminate with the demand lighting function?
    1. YES  : Go to  A3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR circuit GD182 (BK/GY) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT VLN33 (GY/VT) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280a
    • Connect a fused (10A) jumper wire between the SJB C2280a-9, circuit VLN33 (GY/VT), harness side and battery positive.

    • Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?
    1. YES  : VERIFY the SJB fuse 9 (15A) is OK. Go to  A7.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. A4 CHECK THE DIMMER SWITCH
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Dimmer Switch C2065
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the voltage between the dimmer switch C2065-2, circuit CLN27 (WH/BN), harness side and ground.
    • Fig 2: Checking Circuit For Voltage

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new dimmer switch. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND PANEL ILLUMINATION article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  A5.
  5. A5 CHECK CIRCUIT CLN27 (WH/BN) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280b
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280b-36, circuit CLN27 (WH/BN), harness side and ground.
    • Fig 3: Checking Circuit For Short To Ground

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  A7.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. A6 CHECK CIRCUIT VLN33 (GY/VT) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280a
    • Disconnect: All Courtesy Lamps
    • Measure the resistance between the SJB C2280a-9, circuit VLN33 (GY/VT), harness side and ground.
    • Fig 4: Measuring Resistance

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  A7.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. RUN the on-demand self-test (required to clear certain DTCs). CORRECT any unresolved DTCs. CLEAR all DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  7. A7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. RUN the on-demand self-test (required to clear certain DTCs). CORRECT any unresolved DTCs. CLEAR all DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
