Removal And Installation

NOTE: Installation of a new suction accumulator is not required when repairing the air conditioning system, except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the suction accumulator.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS article.
  3. Remove the front bumper cover. For additional information, refer to BUMPERS article.
  4. Remove the DC/DC converter. For additional information, refer to HIGH VOLTAGE CONVERTER/INVERTER article.
  5. Remove the front auxiliary evaporator outlet line fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  6. Disconnect the compressor manifold and tube spring lock coupling at the suction accumulator.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
  7. Remove the condenser core inlet fitting nut and disconnect the fitting.
    • Discard the O-ring seal.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  8. Remove the 3 RH lower engine splash shield bolts and 1 pin-type retainer and remove the splash shield.

  10. Remove the compressor manifold bolt.
    • Discard the O-ring seals.
    • To install, tighten to 21 Nm (15 lb-ft).
  11. Remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly bracket nut.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  12. Remove the compressor manifold and tube assembly.
  13. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  14. Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION AND DIAGNOSTICS article.
