Pinpoint Test A: The Alarm System Does Not Disarm - From The Driver Door

CAUTION: Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
  1. A1 CHECK THE DRIVER DOOR DISARM SWITCH INPUT TO THE SJB 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: SJB C2280c (without the memory feature) or DDM C568b (with the memory feature).
    • On vehicles without the memory feature, measure the resistance between the SJB C2280c-5, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side and ground while turning the driver door lock cylinder to UNLOCK.

    • On vehicles with the memory feature, measure the resistance between the DDM C568b-2, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side and ground while turning the driver door lock cylinder to UNLOCK.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  : For vehicles without the memory feature, GO to  A7.

    For vehicles with the memory feature, GO to  A5.

    No  : GO to A2.

  2. A2 CHECK CIRCUIT CPL28 (VT/BN) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Key in ON position.
    • On vehicles without the memory feature, measure the voltage between the SJB C2280c-5, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side and ground.

    • On vehicles with the memory feature, measure the voltage between the DDM C568b-2, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present? 

    Yes  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No  : GO to A3.

  3. A3 CHECK CIRCUIT CPL28 (VT/BN) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Driver Door Latch C525.
    • On vehicles without the memory feature, measure the resistance between the SJB C2280c-5, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side and the driver door latch C525-5, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side.

    • On vehicles with the memory feature, measure the resistance between the DDM C568b-2, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side and the driver door latch C525-5, circuit CPL28 (VT/BN), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  : GO to A4.

    No  : REPAIR the circuit in question. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  4. A4 CHECK THE DRIVER DOOR DISARM SWITCH GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between the driver door latch C525-6, circuit GD126 (BK/WH), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new driver door latch. REFER to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No  : REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  5. A5 CHECK THE SJB ALARM STATUS PID 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Connect: SJB C2280c.
    • Connect: DDM C568b.
    • Connect: Driver Door Latch C525.
    • Connect the diagnostic tool.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: SJB PID.
    • Monitor the SJB PID reset alarm switch while unlocking the door with the key.
    • Does the PID indicate inactive? 

    Yes  : GO to  A7.

    No  : GO to A6.

  6. A6 CHECK THE DDM FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the DDM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the DDM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new DDM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . INFORM the customer that all memory feature settings have to be reset and the RKE transmitters associated to the new memory feature settings. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

  7. A7 CHECK THE SJB FOR CORRECT OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • Corrosion
      • Pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes  : INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULES . CYCLE each key to the ON position for a minimum of 6 seconds to program the remote keyless entry (RKE) function of the integrated keys. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

    No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
