Pinpoint Test BA: The Headlamps On Warning Chime Is Inoperative

BA1 CARRY OUT THE CHIME FUNCTION ACTIVE COMMAND
- Ignition ON.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: IPC DataLogger.
- Select the IPC chime command (SOUNDER_OUT) and command the headlamps on warning chime on.
- Does the headlamps on warning chime operate?
- Yes : GO to BA2.
- No : INSTALL a new IPC . REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
BA2 CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Monitor the safety belt warning chime when the ignition switch is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.
- Does the safety belt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds?
- Yes: GO to BA3.
- No: INSTALL a new IPC . REFER to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.
BA3 CHECK THE EXTERIOR LAMPS OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Place the headlamp switch in the PARK position.
- Do the parking lamps operate?
- Yes: GO to BA4.
- No: REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING .
BA4 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
- Close all doors, hood and luggage compartment lid.
- Ignition ON.
- Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.
- Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR?
- Yes : INSTALL a new SJB . REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : Go To PINPOINT TEST AA to diagnose the door ajar warning indicator (non-hybrid) or Go To PINPOINT TEST AR to diagnose the door ajar message center warning indicator (MKZ or hybrid).
