Removal And Installation

- Relieve the tension on the parking brake system.
- Pull down on the parking brake intermediate cable.
- Insert a 4 mm (5/32 inch) drill bit or equivalent retainer in the parking brake control.
- Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the parking brake intermediate cable at the cable union.
- Compress the clip and separate the front parking brake cable from the frame bracket.
- Remove the 2 parking brake release handle bolts.
- Disconnect the parking brake signal switch electrical connector.
- Remove the 3 parking brake control bolts.
- To install, tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the parking brake control.
- Compress the clip and disconnect the front parking brake cable from the control bracket.
- Remove the parking brake control.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Make sure that the front cable is routed through the loop on the spool.
NOTE:
Make sure the parking brake control is fully released.
