Removal And Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING article.
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding - 2.3L  or Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding - 3.0L, 4.0L  in this article.
  3. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
  4. NOTE: Do not loosen the screw more than necessary for removal.
  5. Loosen the block heater screw and twist and slide the block heater to release the retainer clip. Discard the retainer clip and remove the block heater.
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
