Pinpoint Test H: An Individual Puddle Lamp Is Inoperative

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
- H1 CHECK FOR CORRECT INTERIOR LAMP OPERATION
- Open and close the doors while observing the interior lamps. If equipped with RKE, lock and unlock the doors with the remote transmitter and verify that the interior lamps illuminate when the unlock button is pressed.
- Do the interior lamps operate correctly?
- YES : Go to H2.
- NO : Go to Symptom Chart to diagnose the interior lamp concern before attempting to diagnose the puddle lamps.
- H2 CHECK CIRCUIT 53 (BK/LB) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: LH Exterior Mirror C521 or RH Exterior Mirror C615
- Measure the voltage between the LH exterior mirror C521-8, circuit 53 (BK/LB), harness side and ground; or between RH exterior mirror C615-8, circuit 53 (BK/LB), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
NOTE: Open any door, and make sure the interior lamps are ON.- YES : Go to H3.
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
- H3 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between LH exterior mirror C521-11, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground; or between RH exterior mirror C615-11, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- YES : VERIFY the puddle lamp bulb is OK. If the bulb is OK, INSTALL a new exterior mirror. REFER to REAR VIEW MIRRORS article. TEST the system for normal operation
- NO : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
