  1. G1 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED VSM DTCs FROM THE ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST
    • Check for recorded VSM DTCs from the on-demand self-test.
    • Are any DTCs recorded?
    1. YES  : For DTC B2695, B2696 or B2697, go to  G2 .

For all other VSM DTCs, REFER to Vehicle Security Module (VSM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index in this article.

    2. NO  : Go to  G3.
  2. G2 RERUN THE VSM ON-DEMAND SELF-TEST
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Keyless Entry Keypad C500
    • Key in ON position.
    • Erase the DTCs, then rerun the VSM on-demand self-test.
    • Is DTC B2695, B2696 or B2697 recorded?
    1. YES  : Go to  G6.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new keyless entry keypad. REFER to Keyless Entry Keypad  in this article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  3. G3 CHECK THE VSM KEYPAD PID
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: VSM PIDs
    • Monitor the KEY_PAD PID while pressing each keyless entry keypad button.
    • Do the PID values agree with the keypad button positions?
    1. YES  : Go to  G7.
    2. NO  : Go to  G4.
  4. G4 CHECK THE KEYLESS ENTRY KEYPAD SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Keyless Entry Keypad C500
    • Disconnect: VSM C3008a
    • Measure the resistance between the keyless entry keypad C500, harness side and the VSM C3008a, harness side as follows:
Keyless Entry Keypad Connector-Pin Circuit VSM Connector-Pin
      C500-8 78 (LB/YE) C3008a-14
