Pinpoint Test B: All Door Locks Are Inoperative

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. B1 CHECK CIRCUIT 7 (LG/YE) FOR VOLTAGE
    • Disconnect: VSM C3008a
    • Measure the voltage between the VSM C3008a-8, circuit 7 (LG/YE), harness side and ground.

    • Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
    1. YES  : Go to  B2.
    2. NO  : VERIFY the central junction box (CJB) fuse 107 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. B2 CHECK CIRCUIT 117 (PK/BK) FOR AN OPEN OR SHORT TO GROUND
    • Disconnect: Right Front Door Lock Actuator C603
    • Measure the resistance between the right front door lock actuator C603-1, circuit 117 (PK/BK), harness side and the VSM C3008a-2, circuit 117 (PK/BK), harness side; and between the right front door lock actuator C603-1, circuit 117 (PK/BK), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the right front door lock actuator and the VSM, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the right front door lock actuator and ground?
    1. YES  : Go to  B3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. B3 CHECK CIRCUIT 118 (PK/OG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Measure the resistance between the right front door lock actuator C603-2, circuit 118 (PK/OG), harness side and ground.
Fig 3: Checking Circuit 118 (PK/OG) For Short To Ground

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  B4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. B4 CHECK CIRCUIT 163 (RD/OG) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Disconnect: Driver Door Lock Actuator C525
    • Measure the resistance between the driver door lock actuator C525-2, circuit 163 (RD/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  B5.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. B5 CHECK THE SUSPECT DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR
    • Connect a fused (5A) jumper wire between the suspect door lock actuator connector pin 1, component side and the battery positive terminal; and a jumper wire between the suspect door lock actuator connector pin 2, component side and ground.

    • Does the door lock actuator operate correctly?
    1. YES  : REMOVE the jumper wires. Go to  B6.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new door lock actuator. REFER to Front Door Lock Actuator  or Rear Door Lock Actuator  in this article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. B6 CHECK FOR CORRECT VSM OPERATION
    • Disconnect all the VSM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the VSM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
    1. YES  : INSTALL a new VSM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
