Pinpoint Test K: The Heated Seat Is Inoperative - Seat Does Heat But The Heated Seat Indicator Does Not Illuminate - Passenger

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. K1 CHECK FOR EATC MODULE DTCs
WARNING: The restraint system diagnostic tool is for restraint system service only. Remove from vehicle prior to road use. Failure to remove could result in injury and possible violation of vehicle safety standards.
NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the restraints control module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Retrieve and Document Continuous DTCs From the EATC Module
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear the EATC Module Continuous DTCs
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: EATC Module On-Demand Self Test
    • Was DTC B2964 retrieved?
    1. YES  : Go to Pinpoint Test J .
    2. NO  : Go to  K2.
  2. K2 CHECK CIRCUITS 1553 (BK) AND 1552 (RD) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Depower the SRS. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
    • Disconnect the passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202.
    • Connect restraint system diagnostic tool 418-F395 to the passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202.
    • WARNING: Be sure that nobody is in the vehicle and that there is nothing blocking or set in front of any air bag module when the battery ground cable is connected.
    • Connect the battery ground cable.
    • Disconnect: EATC Module C228b
    • Disconnect: Passenger Heated Seat Module C329
    • Measure the resistance between EATC module C228b-16, circuit 1553 (BK), harness side and ground; and between EATC module C228b-17, circuit 1552 (RD), harness side and ground.

    • Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  K3.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the affected circuits. TEST the system for normal operation. DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202. CONNECT passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.
  3. K3 CHECK CIRCUITS 1553 (BK) AND 1552 (RD) FOR AN OPEN
    • Key in ON position.
    • Measure the resistance between EATC module C228b-16, circuit 1553 (BK), harness side and passenger heated seat module C329-9, circuit 1553 (BK), harness side; and between EATC module C228b-17, circuit 1552 (RD), harness side and passenger heated seat module C329-10, circuit 1552 (RD), harness side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms?
    1. YES  : Go to  K4.
    2. NO  : REPAIR the affected circuits. TEST the system for normal operation. DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. DISCONNECT the restraint system diagnostic tool from passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202. CONNECT passenger seat safety belt buckle pretensioner C3202. REPOWER the supplemental restraint system (SRS). REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM article. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self test.
  4. K4 CHECK THE HEATED SEAT MODULE HI INDICATOR ON THE EATC MODULE
    • Connect: EATC Module C228b
    • Key in ON position.
    • Connect a fused jumper lead between passenger heated seat module C329-10, circuit 1552 (RD), harness side and C329-12, circuit 1153 (RD/BK), harness side.
