Pinpoint Test E: The Chime Sounds When The Driver Door Is Ajar (No Key In Ignition And Headlamps Off)

CAUTION:
Use the correct probe adaptor(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adaptor(s) may damage the connector.
- E1 CHECK THE PARKING LAMPS OPERATION
- Place the headlamp switch in the headlamps or parking lamps on position and observe the parking lamps.
- Do the parking lamps operate correctly?
Yes : GO to E2.
No : REFER to EXTERIOR LIGHTING to continue diagnosis of the parking lamps.
- E2 CHECK CIRCUIT 158 (BK/PK) FOR VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: LCM C2145a.
- Remove the key from the ignition lock cylinder.
- Measure the voltage between the LCM C2145a-10, circuit 158 (BK/PK), harness side and ground.
- Is any voltage present?
Yes : GO to E3.
No : GO to E4.
- E3 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH FOR CORRECT OPERATION
- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
- Carry out the ignition switch component test. Refer to COMPONENT TESTING .
- Does the ignition switch pass the component test?
Yes : REPAIR circuit 158 (BK/PK). TEST the system for normal operation.
No : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES . TEST the system for normal operation.
- E4 CHECK FOR CORRECT LCM OPERATION
- Disconnect all LCM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion
- pushed-out pins
- Connect all LCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
Yes : INSTALL a new LCM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES . TEST the system for normal operation.
No : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
