Removal and Installation

All vehicles 

  1. Remove the rear door handle bezel.
    • Open the screw cover (cover is tethered).
    • Remove the screw.
    • Remove the rear door handle bezel.
      • Disconnect the electrical connector, if equipped.

    MKX only 

  2. Open the rear door window control switch bezel screw cover.

    Edge only 

  3. Lift and remove the rear door window control switch mat.

    All vehicles 

  4. Remove the screw.
  5. Remove the 6 trim panel screws.
  6. Disengage the bottom of the door trim panel from the door.
    • Pull outward to disengage the push nuts from the retainers.
  7. Lift the top of the door trim panel edge upward and out of the beltline molding.
  8. Lift the door trim panel up and off of the lock rod.
  9. Remove the rear door trim panel.
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors.
  10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
