Pinpoint Test H: The Demand Lighting Is Inoperative

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Ford RV Cutaway, 2008 Ford Econoline, 2008 Ford E450 Super Duty, and 2008 Ford Cutaway. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. H1 CHECK THE IC DTCs FROM BOTH THE CONTINUOUS AND THE ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTS
    • Use the recorded results from the IC continuous and on-demand self-test.
    • Is DTC B1315 present?
    1. YES  : Go to  H2.
    2. NO  : Go to  H4.
  2. H2 CHECK THE BATTERY SAVER RELAY (DTC B1315)
    • Disconnect: Battery Saver Relay
    • Key in ON position.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: IC Self-Tests
    • CLEAR the DTCs, and repeat the IC self-tests.
    • Is DTC B1315 still present?
    1. YES  : Go to  H3.
    2. NO  : INSTALL a new battery saver relay. RUN the on-demand self-test (required to clear certain DTCs). CORRECT any unresolved DTCs. CLEAR all DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. H3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1005 (VT/OG) FOR SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: IC C220a
    • Fig 1: Checking Circuit 1005 (VT/OG) For Short To Voltage

    • Measure the voltage between the IC C220a-1, circuit 1005 (VT/OG), harness side and ground.
    • Is any voltage present?
    1. YES  : REPAIR the circuit. RUN the on-demand self-test (required to clear certain DTCs). CORRECT any unresolved DTCs. CLEAR all DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : Go to  H9.
  4. H4 CHECK THE BATTERY SAVER RELAY (NO DTCs)
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: Battery Saver Relay
    • Install a known good relay and open any door.
    • Do the courtesy lamps illuminate?
    1. YES  : REMOVE the known good relay. INSTALL a new battery saver relay. TEST the system for normal operation.
    2. NO  : REMOVE the known good relay. Go to  H5.
  5. H5 CHECK CIRCUIT 54 (LG/YE) FOR AN OPEN (BATTERY SAVER RELAY)
