Network Communication

The following audio system components communicate via the MS-CAN:

The following messages are utilized by the audio system:

Message Transmitting Module Receiving Module(s) Audio System Function
Ignition Switch Position Instrument cluster Audio unit
Satellite radio receiver
DVD player
THX® amplifier
Indicates ignition switch position for power-up/shut-down.
Backlight Dimmer Smart junction box (SJB) Audio unit
DVD player
Controls the backlight intensity, based on the position of the dimmer switch.
Transmission Gear Selected Instrument cluster Audio unit For navigation system, this signal is used for more accurate navigation tracking.
Delayed Accessory Status SJB Audio unit
DVD player
When active, this signal allows the audio component to be operated after the vehicle is shut off and a door has not been opened.
Engine RPM Data Instrument cluster Audio unit
THX® amplifier
Used by the audio unit (or THX® amplifier) for the speed-compensated volume function.
Wheel Speed Data Instrument cluster Audio unit For navigation system, this signal is used for more accurate navigation tracking.
