  • The message center is not operating correctly
  • Message center switches
  • Instrument cluster
  • If equipped with a message center cluster, go to Pinpoint Test A .
  • If equipped with a base instrument cluster, VERIFY that the instrument cluster is operating correctly.
    • If the instrument cluster operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the instrument cluster is not operating correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
  • The message center display is blank
  • Message center display setting
  • Instrument cluster
  • PRESS the INFO button on the message center to make sure the display is not set to a blank display.
    • If the message center display turns on, the system is operating normally at this time. The message center display was set to a blank display.
    • If the message center display is still blank, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • Not all segments of the display illuminate
  • Instrument cluster
  • INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The message center switch does not operate correctly

  • CHECK the operation of the speedometer, the fuel gauge and the odometer.
    • If the speedometer, the fuel gauge and the odometer do not operate correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
    • If the speedometer, the fuel gauge and the odometer operate correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The PARKING AID ON/OFF warning is inoperative

  • Instrument cluster
  • The XXX MILES/KM TO E FUEL LOW warning is inoperative
  • Fuel gauge
  • Instrument cluster
  • VERIFY that the fuel gauge operates correctly and that there is less than approximately 3 gallons of fuel in the tank.
      NOTE: The miles to empty warning only displays at 80 km (50 miles) to empty which is equal to approximately 3-5 gallons of fuel remaining. This is a learned strategy based on fuel economy and changes from its default setting.
    • If the fuel gauge operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM, CHECK PARK BRAKE, PARK BRAKE ENGAGED, or BRAKE FLUID LEVEL LOW warning is inoperative
  • Parking brake switch
  • Brake fluid level switch
  • Smart junction box (SJB)
  • Instrument cluster
  • OBSERVE the brake warning indicator.
    • If the brake warning indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the brake warning indicator does not operate correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
  • The WASHER FLUID LEVEL LOW warning is inoperative
  • Circuitry
  • Washer fluid level switch
  • Instrument cluster
  • OBSERVE the low washer fluid level reconfigurable telltale indicator.
    • If the low washer fluid level reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the low washer fluid level reconfigurable telltale indicator does not operate correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
  • The XXX% OIL LIFE CHANGE OIL SOON or OIL CHANGE REQUIRED warning is inoperative
  • Instrument cluster
  • INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
  • The CHECK AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM or AIR SUSPENSION OFF warning is inoperative (if equipped)
  • Instrument cluster configuration
  • Air suspension system
  • Air suspension module
  • Instrument cluster
  • The DRIVER DOOR, PASSENGER DOOR, REAR LEFT DOOR, REAR RIGHT DOOR or LIFTGATE/GLASS AJAR warning is inoperative
  • Interior lamps
  • SJB
  • OPEN and CLOSE each door, liftgate and liftgate glass and VERIFY that the interior lamps operate correctly.
    • If the interior lamps do not operate correctly from each door, liftgate and liftgate glass, REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING article.
 
  • Instrument cluster
  • VERIFY that the door ajar reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly.
    • If the door ajar reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the door ajar reconfigurable telltale indicator does not operate correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
  • The CHECK CHARGING SYSTEM warning is inoperative
  • Instrument cluster
  • VERIFY that the charge reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly.
    • If the charge reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the charge reconfigurable telltale indicator does not operate correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
  • The TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT, LOW TIRE PRESSURE or TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT warning is inoperative (if equipped)
  • Instrument cluster
  • VERIFY that the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warning indicator operates correctly.
    • If the TPMS reconfigurable telltale indicator operates correctly, INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • If the TPMS reconfigurable telltale indicator does not operate correctly, REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article.
  • The 4X4 SHIFT IN PROGRESS warning is inoperative
