Removal and Installation

WARNING: Use of any other than approved DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid will cause permanent damage to brake components and will render the brakes inoperative. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with water.
  1. If equipped with interactive vehicle dynamics (IVD), disconnect the brake master cylinder pressure switch electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the brake fluid level switch electrical connector.
  3. NOTE: Cap the brake line and plug the master cylinder ports after disconnecting the brake line fittings.
  4. Disconnect the brake line fittings.
    • To install, tighten to 17 Nm (13 lb-ft)
  5. Remove the 2 brake master cylinder nuts.
    • To install, tighten to 32 Nm (24 lb-ft).
  6. Remove the brake master cylinder.
  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
