Pinpoint Test Ar: The Headlamp On Reminder Chime Is Inoperative

AR1 CHECK THE INTERIOR LAMPS 

• Open the driver door.
• Does the interior dome lamp illuminate when the driver door is open? 

Yes 

GO to AR2

No 

REPAIR the interior dome lamps. REFER to INTERIOR LIGHTING .

AR2 CHECK THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ILLUMINATION LAMPS 

• Turn the parking lamps ON
• Are the instrument cluster illumination lamps on? 

Yes 

GO to AR3.

No 

Go To PINPOINT TEST C  to diagnose the instrument cluster illumination.

AR3 CHECK THE AUTOLAMPS 

• Turn the auto lamps OFF.
• Turn the parking lamps ON.
• Open the driver door.
• Does the headlamps on reminder chime sound? 

Yes 

The system is operating correctly at this time.

No 

GO to AR4.

AR4 CHECK FOR CORRECT INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OPERATION 

• Disconnect all the instrument cluster connectors.
• Check for:
  • Corrosion
  • Pushed-out pins
• Connect all the instrument cluster connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
• Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
• Is the concern still present? 

Yes 

INSTALL a new instrument cluster. REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER . TEST the system for normal operation.

No 

The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
