Instrument Cluster And Panel Illumination

The instrument cluster and panel lamps include the following:

Dimmable backlighting is provided by the lighting control module (LCM) when the headlamp switch is set to the park lamps or headlamps ON position or the autolamp function is enabled. Light intensity is adjusted by pressing the PANEL DIM MAX/OFF switch.

The LCM provides two SCP messages to indicate backlighting intensity levels to the following modules:

These modules use the SCP message to dim their respective display.

The LCM provides a pulse width modulated (PWM) output to control backlighting (control illumination) for the following components:

The signal duty cycle is varied in proportion to the demanded panel dimming level detected by the LCM from the panel dim switch.

The following components have fixed level backlighting that is illuminated when the ignition switch is in the RUN or ACCESSORY position:

The backlighting for the master power window switch assembly and driver power door lock switch is controlled by the driver door module.

If the headlamps are operated during daylight hours the light sensor amplifier will detect high ambient light levels and signal the LCM to keep illumination levels readable.
