WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lincoln Mark LT and 2007 Ford Pickup. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
CAUTION:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
- F1 CHECK FOR MODULE DTCs
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Retrieve and record any ABS, PCM, VSM, controller area network (CAN) bus or UBP network DTCs.
- Are there any DTCs present?
- YES
: For ABS module DTCs, REFER to VEHICLE DYNAMIC SYSTEMS
article.
For PCM DTCs, REFER to the INTRODUCTION - GASOLINE ENGINES article.
For VSM DTCs, ANTI-THEFT article.

- NO : Go to F2.
- F2 CHECK THE VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL
- Drive the vehicle and observe the speedometer.
- Is the speedometer working and displaying the correct speed?
- YES : Go to F3.
- NO : REFER to INSTRUMENT CLUSTER article to diagnose the instrument cluster.
- F3 CHECK THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH INPUT PID
- Key in ON position.
- Using the scan tool, observe the ABS module brake pedal position switch input PID while pressing and releasing the brake pedal.
- Does the PID match the brake pedal position?
- YES : Go to F4.
- NO : REFER to VEHICLE DYNAMIC SYSTEMS article to diagnose the ABS module and brake pedal position switch.
- F4 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH INPUT PID
- Key in ON position.

- Disconnect: VSM C3008b
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between VSM C3008b-16, circuit 7 (LG/YE), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
- YES : Go to F6.
- NO : VERIFY that central junction box (CJB) fuse 18 (10A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR circuit 7 (LG/YE). TEST the system for normal operation.
- F6 CHECK THE VSM CONNECTORS
- Disconnect all the VSM connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.
- Connect all the VSM connectors and make sure that they are seated correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?
- YES : INSTALL a new VSM. REFER to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES article. TEST the system for normal operation.
- NO : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
