Test N: Seat Belt Warning Is Inoperative (Chime Is Operative)

  1. Ensure driver's seat belt is not fastened. Turn ignition switch to ON position. If seat belt warning chime sounds, go to next step. If warning chime does not sound, repair seat belt warning chime. Perform TEST Z: SEAT BELT WARNING CHIME INOPERATIVE  .
  2. Ensure driver's seat belt is not fastened and all doors are closed. Turn ignition switch to ON position and wait one minute. If seat belt warning light does not prove out, go to next step. If seat belt warning light does prove out, system is okay at this time.
  3. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Using NGS tester, select Lighting Control Module (LCM) active command SEATBELT. Trigger SEATBELT on. If seat belt warning light is on, replace LCM. If seat belt warning light is not on, replace Virtual Image Cluster (VIC). See VIRTUAL IMAGE CLUSTER (VIC)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
