Test Ag: Air Bag Warning Chime Does Not Operate Properly
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to ON position. Retrieve and document Restraints Control Module (RCM) continuous DTCs. If no DTCs exists, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, repair restraint system concern. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING in lemon-25(R) AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR MANUAL, DOMESTIC & IMPORTED MODELS.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect Lighting Control Module (LCM) harness connector C206. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (White/Red wire) at LCM harness connector C206. See Figure
. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair short to ground in White/Red wire.
- Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 10 (White/Red wire) at LCM harness connector C206. If battery voltage exists, repair short to power in White/Red wire. If battery voltage does not exist, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect RCM harness connector C327. Measure resistance of White/Red wire between terminal No. 10 at LCM harness C206 and terminal No. 26 at RCM harness connector C327. See Figure

. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/White wire.
- Disconnect all RCM harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Reconnect all RCM harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system to verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace RCM. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and repeat RCM self-test.
