Test W: Low Fuel Indicator Never/Always On
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record continuous instrument cluster and Rear Electronic Module (REM) DTCs. Clear instrument cluster and REM DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform instrument cluster and REM self-test. If instrument cluster DTC U1131 and REM DTC B1201 are not retrieved, go to next step. If instrument cluster DTC U1131 and/or REM DTC B1201 is retrieved, perform TEST D: FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE .
- Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command WARNING LAMPS AND CHIMES. Trigger ALL LAMPS ON, then OFF. Low fuel indicator should illuminate when triggered ON and should not illuminate when triggered OFF. If low fuel indicator operate as specified, perform TEST D: FUEL GAUGE INACCURATE . If low fuel indicator does not operate as specified, replace instrument cluster.
