Test T: Tachometer Inoperative

Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select instrument cluster active command TACHOMETER CONTROL. Trigger TCHOMETER. Scroll TCHOMETER to 0 percent, 50 percent, then 100 percent while observing tachometer. Tachometer should display zero RPM at 0 percent, 3500 RPM at 50 percent and 7000 RPM at 100 percent. If tachometer operates as described, perform TEST JH: TACHOMETER OUTPUT FAILURE under SYSTEM TESTS in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - EEC-V (GASOLINE) article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If tachometer does not operate as described, replace instrument cluster.
