Test Ar: All LEDS & Incandescent Lights Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Front Electronic Module (FEM) harness connector C201f. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Orange/Yellow wire) at FEM harness connector C201f. See Figure . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Auxiliary Junction Box (AJB) harness connector C283a. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Blue/Red wire) at AJB harness connector C283a. See Fig 1 . If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Blue/Red wire between FEM and AJB.
  3. Connect FEM harness connector C201f. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn headlights on. Turn panel dimmer switch to maximum position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 13 (Blue/Red wire) at AJB harness connector C283a. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, go to step  8 .
  4. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect AJB harness connector C283d. Using a fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to terminal No. 13 (Blue wire) at AJB harness connector C283d.Instrument cluster and message center lights should illuminate. Steering wheel switches (if equipped), main light switch, panel dimmer switch, mirror switch and message center switch lights should illuminate. If all lights do not illuminate, remove jumper wire and go to next step. If all lights illuminate, remove jumper wire and go to step  7 .
  5. Disconnect joint connector No. 3 harness connector C224. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Blue wire) at joint connector No. 3 harness connector C224. See Fig 2 . If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Blue wire between joint connector No. 3 and AJB.
  6. NOTE: Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
  7. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector. Disconnect message center harness connector C253. Disconnect panel dimmer switch harness connector C206. Disconnect headlight switch harness connector C205. Disconnect power mirror switch harness connector C204. Disconnect steering wheel switch harness connector C217. Measure resistance between ground and terminals No. 12 (Blue/Yellow wire), No. 14 (Blue/Yellow wire), No. 15 (Blue/Red wire), No. 16 (Blue/Red wire), No. 20 (Blue/Black wire) and No. 21 (Blue/Orange wire) at joint connector No. 3 harness connector C224. If all resistances are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace joint connector No. 3. If any resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in appropriate wire.
  8. Disconnect AJB harness connector C283a. Using a fused jumper wire, apply battery voltage to terminal No. 5 (Blue/White wire) at AJB harness connector C283a. Emergency message switch, seat heater switches, traction control disable switch, shift selector and cigarette lighter lights should illuminate. If all lights do not illuminate, repair wiring as necessary. If all lights illuminate, remove jumper wire and replace AJB.
  9. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM harness connector C201f. Measure resistance in Blue/Red wire between terminal No. 11 at FEM harness connector C201f and terminal No. 13 at AJB harness connector C283a. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace FEM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Blue/Red wire between FEM and AJB.
