Test AJ: Driver's Door Chime Sounds With Key Removed From Ignition & Headlights Off

  1. Ensure headlights are off. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove key from ignition. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, monitor instrument cluster PID IGN_KEY. If PID displays IN, go to next step. If PID does not display IN, replace instrument cluster.
  2. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220a. Measure voltage at terminal No. 21 (Red/White wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220a. See Figure . If voltage exists, go to next step. If voltage does not exist, perform TEST AL: KEY-IN-IGNITION CHIME NOT OPERATING PROPERLY  .
  3. Check Red/White wire between terminal No. 21 at instrument cluster harness connector C220a. and terminal No. 8 at ignition switch harness connector for short to voltage. If problem exists, repair as necessary. If problem does not exist, replace ignition switch.
