Test A: No Communication With Instrument Cluster

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connectors C220a and C220b. Measure voltage at terminal No. 3 (Orange/Blue wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220b. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 11 (Green/Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220a. Measure voltage at terminals No. 6 (Green/Red wire) and No. 17 (Yellow/Green wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220a. If battery voltage exists at all terminals, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist at all terminals, repair power distribution circuit(s) as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 6 (Black wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220a. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 13 (Brown/Red wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C220b. If both resistances are 5 ohms or less, diagnose module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If either resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in appropriate wire between instrument cluster and ground.
