Test An: Air Bag Warning Chime Not Operating Properly
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, retrieve and record Restraint Control Module (RCM) DTCs. Clear RCM DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform RCM self-test. If no RCM DTCs exist, go to next step. If any RCM DTCs exist, repair air bag system as necessary. - Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect RCM harness connector C310a. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C220b. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 26 (White/Black wire) at RCM harness connector C310a. See Fig 1 . If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Black wire between RCM and instrument cluster.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 26 (White/Black wire) at RCM harness connector C310a. If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in White/Black wire between RCM and instrument cluster.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Measure resistance in White/Black wire between terminal No. 14 at instrument cluster harness connector C220b and terminal No. 26 at RCM harness connector C310a. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace instrument cluster. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Black wire between RCM and instrument cluster.
