Test Ag: Air Bag Warning Chime Does Not Operate Properly
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Retrieve and document Restraints Control Module (RCM) continuous DTCs. If no DTCs exists, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, repair restraint system concern. See DIAGNOSIS & TESTING in lemon-25(R) AIR BAG SERVICE & REPAIR MANUAL, DOMESTIC & IMPORTED MODELS.
- Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Deactivate air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Disconnect Lighting Control Module (LCM) harness connector C206. Disconnect RCM harness connector C327. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage at terminal No. 10 (White/Red wire) at LCM harness connector C206. See Figure
. If voltage does not exist, go to next step. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in White/Red wire.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 10 (White/Red wire) at LCM harness connector C206. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in White/Red wire.
- Measure resistance in White/Red wire between terminal No. 10 at LCM harness C206 and terminal No. 26 at RCM harness connector C327. See Figure
and Fig 1
. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/White wire.
- Disconnect all LCM harness connectors. Inspect for corrosion and pushed out pins. Reconnect all LCM harness connectors, ensuring they are connected correctly. Operate system to verify if concern is still present. If concern is still present, replace LCM. If concern is not present, system is operating correctly at this time. Clear DTCs and repeat LCM self-test.
