Test G: Oil Pressure Gauge Inaccurate

Check Oil Pressure Gauge

Ensure engine oil is at correct level. Turn ignition on, engine off. If oil pressure gauge reads low, go to step 4). If oil pressure gauge reads high, go to next step.

Check White/Red Wire Input Signal

Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C237. Measure resistance between C237 pin No. 6 (White/Red wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster. Retest system.

Check White/Red Wire For Short To Ground

Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch in engine compartment. Measure resistance between C237 pin No. 6 (White/Red wire) and ground. If resistance is less than 10 k/ohms, repair White/Red wire. Retest system. If resistance is more than 10 k/ohms, replace oil pressure switch. Retest system.

Check Oil Pressure Gauge With Engine Running

Start engine and check oil pressure gauge. If gauge reads in upper half of normal range, system is okay. If gauge does not read in upper half of normal range, go to next step.

Check Red/White Wire Input Signal

Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster harness connector C237. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between instrument panel harness connector C237 and ground. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair or replace instrument cluster. Retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.

Check Red/White Wire For Open

Turn ignition off. Disconnect oil pressure switch harness connector. Measure resistance of Red/White wire between instrument panel harness connector C237 and oil pressure switch terminal. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace oil pressure switch. Retest system. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair Red/White wire. Retest system.
