Speedometer Reads Inaccurately

  1. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Retrieve HEIC continuous and self-test DTCs. If DTC U1041 is present, see appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section. If DTC U1041 is not present, go to next step.
  2. Using NGS tester, select HEIC active command SPEEDOMETER CONTROL. Trigger SPEEDOMETER ON. Adjust NGS tester to command SPEEDOMETER reads 50 percent and observe speedometer reading. Adjust NGS tester to command SPEEDOMETER reads 100 percent and observe speedometer reading. Speedometer needle should start at zero, move to about half at 50 percent and upper limit at 100 percent. If speedometer performs as specified, speedometer is operating properly. Check anti-lock brake system for other possible problems. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM article in the BRAKES section. If speedometer does not perform as specified, repair HEIC and retest system.
