Fuel Level Reads Inaccurately

  1. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Retrieve HEIC continuous and self-test DTCs. If DTC U1131 is present, check message center power and ground circuits. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If DTC U1131 is not present, go to next step.
  2. Using NGS tester, select HEIC active command FUEL LEVEL CONTROL. Trigger FUEL LEVEL ON. Command FUEL LEVEL to 50 percent and observe fuel gauge. Command FUEL LEVEL to 100 percent and observe fuel gauge. Fuel gauge needle should start at empty, move to about half at 50 percent and full at 100 percent. If fuel gauge performs as specified, fuel gauge is operating properly. Check fuel system for other possible problems. Also check message center indicator module for proper operation. If fuel gauge does not perform as specified, repair HEIC and retest system.
